The adrenal glands are located at the top of each kidney. They produce hormones that help the body control blood sugar, regulate blood pressure, burn protein and fat. Adrenal glands also produce hormones that help you respond to stressors and injury.
Your Adrenal Health
Having high blood pressure due to adrenal disorders can put you at risk for heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, or stroke.
Adrenal insufficiency leads to fatigue, muscle weakness, decreased appetite, and weight loss. Some sufferers experience further unpleasant symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Adrenal insufficiency can be treated by replacing the hormones that the body is lacking.

With age, many men suffer from male hypogonadism due to low levels of testosterone. This condition can lead to fatigue, low energy and sexual dysfunction. Dr. Douglas screens for male hypogonadism and offers supplementation to help patients achieve optimal testosterone levels.
Adrenal Incidentaloma
Adrenal tumors may be discovered during abdominal CT or MRI scans. Most of these tumors are benign, but some may be cancerous or produce abnormal hormone levels. This can potentially cause high sugar levels, elevated blood pressure, and weight gain in patients. Dr. Douglas will review your CT or MRI scans and perform appropriate hormone testing to assess the state of any present adrenal tumors.
Adrenal deficiency
Are you feeling fatigued, losing weight or having unusual salt cravings? This could be due to primary adrenal dysfunction or related to pituitary gland dysfunction. Dr. Douglas will assess your adrenal function through a detailed clinical history, endocrine physical examination and dynamic endocrine testing as necessary.
